Using NASA's Perseverance Rover and Ingenuity Helicopter as inspiration, students will design their own Mars exploration mission and the vehicles they'll need to fulfil their goals

Imagine working at NASA’s first ever Mars science base – Mars Base 1. What work will you do? What will you wear? How will you communicate with Earth? Tackling some of NASA’s current issues, students will fire their imaginations and develop their problem-solving skills working to answer these questions and more!

It's a Mars Life
What would it be like to live on Mars? Using their knowledge of Mars and sustainability know-how, students will learn how to support the first-ever Mars human colony. Exploring human needs to survive on the harsh red planet, students will design sustainable systems for energy, drinking water, food and waste.

Mars Exploration
How do rockets and helicopters fly? Has there been, or is there life on Mars? This hands-on course is perfect for middle-schoolers who are curious about STEM, space or discovering new worlds. Guided by our certified educators, students develop their science inquiry skills and a growth mindset in a practical immersive learning environment. Using their imaginations and nurturing their problem-solving skills, students use the engineering design process to develop a helicopter and rover, then stretch their thinking to design a Mars exploration. With challenges that help students learn fundamental physics theories and science processes, Mars Exploration is specifically designed for students to participate at home online through live and interactive group lessons.

Mars Base 1
In a hands-on adventure, middle-schoolers will ignite their interest in STEM and space and may even discover their future career working in space or on Mars! Students will learn what it takes to survive in space, with our trained and certified educators guiding them in the engineering design process to create part of their own space suit. They will also participate in a fun team challenge, working together to lead their own Mars rescue mission. These challenging activities will stretch students’ existing abilities and develop their growth mindset in a practical and immersive learning environment. Mars Base 1 is specifically designed for middle school students to participate at home online through live and interactive group lessons.

Once a thriving planet featuring liquid surface water, today Mars is a cold, harsh and barren desert planet. It’s hoped that samples from the Mars 2020 Mission will prove that life once existed on Mars and could again. NASA is preparing to send humans to Mars on a scientific mission of discovery. Space scientists and engineers are now developing equipment including spacesuits and communications systems to ensure future astronaut safety as they work in the hostile Martian environment.

Students required to supply various construction materials including everyday stationery items and household recyclables

It's a Mars Life
It’s a Mars Life is for any middle-schooler who has ever wondered about life in space and for those with a passion for environmental sustainability. Humans exploring and living on Mars is the next milestone in space exploration. With no breathable oxygen, no surface water, freezing conditions and no protection from the sun and dust storms, Mars is a hostile environment. Located millions of kilometers away from support from Earth, humans must be self-sufficient to live successfully on Mars. Space agencies around the world are currently developing life support systems to ensure astronauts can create their own sustainable sources of oxygen, food, shelter, water, and energy.
